Rhizomatous, tufted robust perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.5–1.5(–3) m high, clumps to 1. 5 m wide. Fl. brown, Nov–May. White, grey or calcareous sand, limestone, loam. Dunes, creeklines. Distribution: SW: ESP, GS, JF, MAL, SWA, WAR.
