Habit and leaf form. Trees or shrubs, 1–9 m high. Leaves alternate, leaves 40–150 mm long overall. Leaf blade 40–150 mm long, 12–60 mm wide, undissected, elliptic or spathulate, flat; margins entire; indumentum absent or present (subsp. trichophylla, only at flowering time).
Inflorescence and floral features. Inflorescence axillary (or at leafless nodes), racemose. Flowers pedicellate, cream and pink. Pedicel 7–9.5 mm long. Perianth (perigone) 7–8 mm long. Pistil 14–18 mm long. Pollen presenter simple.

Fruit and seed features. Fruit 22–36 mm long, 11–19 mm wide; corky tetrahedral projections absent; red-brown and pale wood zones absent. Seed 14–22 mm long; wing discontinuous, marginal, extending ± unequally down each lateral side.
Distribution. Western Australia. IBRA Bioregions SW: AW, JF, and MAL.
Habitat. In gravelly soil, or loam.
Flowering Time. March to July.
Etymology. Petiolaris (L.): petiolus - little foot; referring to the leaf-stalks of this species.
