Habit and leaf form. Trees or shrubs, 2.5–6 m high. Leaves alternate, leaves (70–)80–180(–210) mm long overall. Leaf blade (70–)80–180(–210) mm long, 6–29 mm wide, undissected, elliptic or obovate, flat; margins entire; indumentum absent.

Inflorescence and floral features. Inflorescence axillary, racemose. Flowers pedicellate, red or pink. Pedicel 5–9.5 mm long. Perianth (perigone) 4–6 mm long. Pistil 12–19 mm long. Pollen presenter simple.

Fruit and seed features. Fruit 22–38 mm long, 16–22 mm wide; corky tetrahedral projections absent; red-brown and pale wood zones absent. Seed 15–24 mm long; wing discontinuous, marginal, extending ± equally down both lateral sides.

Distribution. Western Australia. IBRA Bioregions SW: SWA, AW, JF, MAL, and ESP.

Habitat. Amongst low trees, or low (sclerophyll) shrubland; in sand, or clay (limestone, sandy loam).

Flowering Time. April to August.

Etymology. Laurina (L.): laurus – bay or laurel tree + inus – like; referring to the resemblance of this species to the laurel tree.
